((Okay, it has been a LONG time since I RPed on boards/chatrooms, so my spologies if I flub anything up. Anyhoo, basically this is an open RP, I don't mind who joins in! And here is the Sam who I'm RPing first: www.splintyr.com/territory/humbee.html ))
A lone Samanayr skirted a bubbling pool cautiously. As far as he knew, he was walking the thin edge of land between the territories of two other stallions, both of which had their own Songs. He had not read the signs that were posted for the benefit of those without sensitive noses - his every breath told him exactly where he was and what sort of trouble he might be in if he stepped too far to his east or west.
He dipped his gray-streaked neck towards the pool, allowing his sensitive golden muzzle to touch the water's surface. His coat was very unusual in the fact that it did not exist at all - except for a short, yellow-and-black mane and the fur that grew on two of his three tails, his skin was bare of any fur. It did not seem to be a handicap in the forest; the air was warm and calm and the day was still young. It had drawn the stares of many of the resident Samanayrs, however - that, and the fact that he had three very different tails all sprouting from his rump.
Although resilient of mind and heart, the quiet whisperings of several of the resident Songs had bothered him, so he had wandered in widening circles until he had found a small slice of forest that was apparently unclaimed by a Song. It was literally not wide enough for any Samanayr in his right mind to claim as his own territory, but for Humbee, it was the perfect place to take a walk.
He was young, and had only recently struck out from his mother's side. His parents loved each other and him very deeply, but Humbee had known instinctively when it was time to set out on his own. His mother and father were content to live offworld, but they had suggested to Humbee that "home" was the ideal place to start looking for "a nice mare to settle down with".
Humbee snorted, and pawed at his already-shattered reflection in the bubbling pool, causing it to ripple even more until it was undecipherable. A nice mare, indeed! He would rather spend some time making friends first - no matter what gender the other Sams were.
Suddenly he snapped to a standstill, one hoof still perched precariously above the pool. He cautiously sniffed the air, as silently as he could. Had he heard something approaching, or had he only imagined it? More importantly, if he had heard another creature, were they friend or foe...?
